2009 Cardrona Jagermeister Snowboard Masters

Well I thought it was about time I should update what I have been up to lately.
It's been a busy few weeks since my last Pro-file update so a few things to cover.
Saturday 19th September saw me hit the 2009 Cardrona Jagermeister Masters at Cardrona Apline Resort.
The sun was shining and the Jagermeister's flowing right from the start of the first race. Although this is actually a social event you would never have guessed lining up in the start gates with heaps of friendly banter and not so friendly banter and the opportunity to get one up on ya mates.

Cardona turned it on with a great day of competition. The morning saw us line up for Giant Slalom. With compulsory shots of Jager before dropping and unfortunate for me 2 shots for the rookies!! The racing was intense with some great riding and some equally impressive spills. Tom Willmott took out the race with Adam Dooney second and Mike Bell 3rd.

Lunch time saw the event continue with a half pipe jam session. More Jagermeister and a BBQ to get us in the mood for the Boardercross in the afternoon.
Again, Tom Willmott taking out the Half Pipe Jam.

The avo session moved us from the pipe to the top of the boardercross course, again with lots of Jagermeister.
I made it through my heats to get into the Semi finals. Unfortunately that's as far as I progressed. Lining up in my semi against Tom Willmott (head NZ coach and ex British Snowboard cross national champion), Mike Bell (NZ development Coach) and Adam Dooney (SSNZ Development Manager and Yoda of snowboarding)
It was a tough race and only finished a fraction of a second off the pace.
Once again Tom Willmott took out the final that had it all including a full face fend from Tom on Mike!
It was then down to the Cardrona Hotel for prize giving and yep more Jagermeister!

What an awesome day it turned out to be and I will be back next year to try and master the masters!
