Wow, so we made it to Istanbul after 24 hours travel from Colorado.
We are now staying here for the next 2 days to recover from training and travel before jumping on a plane on Sunday to Sochi, Russia.
We are staying in this awesome 5 star hotel in Istanbul! Rest wont be to hard to find in a place like this (see pictures)!! After all I am only here to rest and recover before the big races in the next week.
Also staying here is the team physio, Andrew Duff (Duffy), on hand for some massage and fixing up my beaten up body and Adam Dooney my coach to help out with any other stuff.
After leaving NZ on the 14th Feb we first had a full on 2 week training camp in Summit County, Colorado, USA. We spent those 2 weeks working on some stuff before getting into competition mode this week and next week.
First up is the 2013 Paralympic Test Event in Sochi Russia. This will see all the top riders battle it out on the Olympic boardercross course as part of the build up to 2014. With such a strong field of athletes it is going to be an awesome race and also good to see what the venue is like for the 2014 games.
From there it's a short plane trip to Slovenia for a World Cup race then back to Colorado for a few days before heading to Canada for another World Cup.
So a couple dates to look out for:
6th March - 2013 Paralympic Test Event - Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort, Sochi, Russia
10th March - 2013 ParaSnowboard World Cup - Maribor, Slovenia.
29th March - 2013 ParaSnowboard World Cup - Big White, British Columbia, Canada.
So that's it from me for now. I will try and update after the Sochi event but as I get on a plane a few hours after the race it might have to wait a day or so.
