Thursday 20th August.

Wow what a day.  Blue sky overhead, crisp, cold air, snow, fast and hard.

Perfect race conditions.

162 competitors lined up to contest the Top of the South ski and snowboard races at Rainbow Ski Area.

It was a big mission for the St Arnaud Ski Racing Foundation to put through than many kids and get the results out and prizegiving done. But our voluntary race crew pulled out all the stops (despite one of our number being taken ill during the race, throwing up violently and having to leave promptly, poor Sean) but with the help of perfect weather and racing conditions we did the job.

Speeding bullet Speeding bullet

Kit, our boy crashed in the first run thus leaving the field wide open, this generated a good bit of excitement, and Tom Rainey from Nelson College skied well and was fastest boy. Nelson College also claimed the Fastest boys team Trophy. Well done boys

The gorgeous Pinkies from Nelson College for girls, dressed in beautiful retro ski suits, stole the style show, as well as fastest girls team cup The Lovely Rachael Hay (a vision in Pink) was also speedy, and was fastest girl.

Nayland College, Kit's team still managed a creditable second fastest boy's team and quitted themselves extremely well in their choice of racing outfits. All coming dressed as Super Heros except Kit who was Diver Dan with mask and snorkel very funny! He wanted to take a spear gun But I was worried. Teenage boy skiing with spear gun Uuuum NO!

Well thats those races over with for 2009.

A big thankyou to all those kind shops and ski areas who just say yes when I scrounge for goodies from them The prizes are much appreciated and the kids LOVE getting something.

Karrma is a great thing and I sure good things happen for you Just because you're nice and generous without thinking of getting anything back. So thanks again
