We celebrated the first day of spring last week with "Hawaiian day" at Racers Edge although the weather did not want to play the game....

Between the rain, wind and freezing temperatures in Wanaka it did not feel like spring was here. It seems we have had more rain this year than ever and i am wondering if it is due to the huge number of English people we have working in the shop...

However Treble Cone decided to treat us last week with huge amounts of snow and some amazing skiing ...The snow was a long way down Mount Roy on Wednesday morning and even though it looked like a storm was heading in I made a very smart call to head up skiing...

Although the lift lines were a little long due to Cardrona being closed there was still nothing to complain about.

As you can see from these pictures it was a pretty good day ....

Town has been busy over the last few weeks with the Winter Games, World Heli Challenge and university games. A few members from the Racers Edge Freeride Federation Team were competing in the Winter Games including Lyndon Sheehan who placed 5th in the men's Halfpipe Final claiming the top kiwi spot . Amy Sheehan who due to injury had to pull out of the slopestyle still managed to claim a 6th in the womens pipe. Team member Jossi Wells although securing a first place in the Volkl NZ Freeski Open was unable to repeat this in the Winter Games due to a knee injury.
Other members Olly Allan (17th) and Hannah James (10th) also competed in the half pipe.

Although the season has flown by we still have another month of great spring skiing left... bring on the snow!
