There's no shortage of awesome big mountain snowboarders in NZ and with a strong international line up trying to take the titles offshore the Kiwis had to throw down at the 2012 CHILL Series.
All the ski action from the 2012 Black Diamond Big Mountain CHILL Series held at the freeride mecca of Temple Basin. A strong field of international skiers took on this epic New Zealand ski area in order to claim the cash, the glory and the all important Freeride World Tour qualifying points!
After the weekend it was back to the Moon Man. The Moon Man has his place, and I’m not one to judge but when he’s predicting snow, I’m on his side. As it was, the end of July (as predicted by the MM) actually did result in a salvaging storm. In good old NZ style it rained, it snowed, it froze, it snowed.
How wrong I was! These outfits, on the scale of everyone else at Broken River on Saturday, were anything but half assed!
The Grim the Glory & the Gromfest - You can despair at how much snow was lost, or you can get out and enjoy the snow that’s there.
After admitting I had never skied a day at Treble Cone I was told to "take a long hard look at myself and think about what I had been doing with my life".
The week before the Clubbies opened I found myself devising a plan with Charlie Lyons and Nick ‘Sauce’ Aubrey on how to get up to the playground with the fluffy goodness before everyone else.
