Huge wind gusts on Friday night on the drive down and the house was shaking most of the night. The forecast for the weekend was iffy and there was a snowy storm front set to arrive Sunday ish that was going to nail the country with snow to low levels. We were hoping for a window the Saturday and we got more! Phat wide trails in the phull, phlat, almost pheatureless Why Not gully. Wind blown stashes, riding on and off trail, top to bottom and below. The High Noon is now fixed and operating so got to expore upper Turoa for the first time this season too. Some sketchy bits around compared to last weekend, but can ride all over. There was even a sunny snow release happening as the day wore on. A large grey cloud held off just to the west, but for those that took the gamble it was soooo worth the risk. No queues and lap after lap at Turoa.
Sunday was a 'one-run-wonder' off the Movenpick in the white out (High Noon was on hold in the morning). It was a quick blat up and down and perhaps we made the wrong call, however the legs were jelly and we had a few house projects focus on and storm watching had begun.
Unfortunately, as is the weekend warrior way, work was calling and with no sign of being snowed in yet I had to reluctantly head home.
