Joint season passes, new beginner areas, more snow making and a lift-accessed halfpipe... Wanaka's looking real good this coming winter!

Winter's getting closer! The inversion layers have started in Wanaka and dustings of snow have begun appearing on the hills.

So what's new down this way? Well, TC and Snowpark have finally teamed up with a combo season pass of sorts, called the 'Park n Powder' pass. The early-bird season pass offer has finished already, but it's great to see the two resorts team up and focus on what they do best (TC certainly ain't known for it's park now is it?).

Snow Park NZ are opening much earlier than the other resorts too - 11th of June to be precise. It's a bit of a gamble on the temperatures being cold enough, but well worth it for Wanaka people, as both Cardies and TC don't open till later that month. Good move Snow Park!

Cardrona have expanded their beginner area extensively, adding a new magic carpet too, which has gotta be good news for the books - beginners are where the cash is after all. And their snow making expansion is looking good for the Valley View; that's the lift that got installed last year which increases their vertical drop massively.

So apart from the new computerised ticket system at TC, there's not much else...

Oh wait! That's right........... Cardies are moving the old beginner T-bar to the side of the halfpipe.

Lift-accessed pipes: Epic!

I know where I'll be spending sunny days this winter.
