So both of us have never done any form of "internet blogging" before, we thought for our first time (along with both of our busy winter schedules) it would be fun to be introduced to New Zealand's online free ride community as a sister "twin" duo. One skiir and one snowboarder. Mean. What a better way to spend more time together - as if we don't get enough anyway!
So a week before the blog was due we were brainstorming about what could be the perfect post for our very first one. Finally we came up with the idea to start off our blogs - as it is the beginning of the winter season - to have a chat about the phenomenon of the widely anticipated "opening day"!
When it comes to that time of the year, when you have waited out a couple of months of bitter cold without any snow and your skis/snowboard is out in the garage pre waxed waiting to hit the slopes - you know the time has come. "Opening Day"
What we love about opening day is that you know most of the town is going to be out shredding as well. Maria has already this season, had the chance to check out two different opening days. Firstly Mt. Dobson's opening day, which featured both a free day pass and surprisingly a dusting of fresh pow, altogether with not a cloud in the sky. Secondly Remarkables, and this upcoming weekend we have Cardrona and Treble Cone. "Opening Day"
Sadly enough, Janina has missed the first two opening days of the season due to her intense pre-season work schedule up at Cardrona... AKA she needs her beauty sleep - but will definitely make up for missed time at Cardrona's "Opening Day".
Not to stray from the main point - I'm sure we speak for a lot of people when we say that we both love opening days - it kicks off the season and gets the ball rolling for the next four months. The past two opening days on the other hand have been a great deal better than expected. The snow was plentiful along with gorgeous weather. Will Cardrona and Treble Cone meet the benchmark for the last two epic OD's? If they do then we can sure as hell bet that this coming season is going to be EPIC and go by so fast we are all gonna be like "whoa! Where the farkin hell did the season go?"
So we both hope to see you up at opening day for any of the hills because we both sure as hell will be there. Over the coming 2009 Southern Hemi winter season join us on our quest to entertain/present our snowy experiences. Rip it up - we are both stoked for getting our first blog in on time!
