I just spent an amazing two days in Temple Basin. Where have I been all my life?!

I didn't think that driving three hours (starting at 9.30pm) then sleeping for four hours, to wake up and drive for another 3.5 hours, and to follow this sleepily with a one hour hike up to the base of Temple Basin - would be my idea of a great start to a two day adventure.... but hell was I wrong.

Logan Holt and I ventured up to Temple from Wanaka after a phone call from Logan's friend Johnny saying it was on... we all met up - Logan, me, Johnny and Stef Zestra at the lodge of Temple Basin. The sun was shining and there was fresh pow to be had. Not only this but there was noone on the hill except for us four, another NZ riding crew and the few die hard locals.

The whole two days were spent hiking and riding fresh pow, on lines that are, I thought, nowhere to be had here in New Zealand. Being a keen clubbie fan I thought I had seen it all, only to be proven wrong!

Both guys Logan and Stef were stepping it up, and all in all the trip ended up changing my whole view of NZ riding. Temple Basin is now one of my fav hills to ride and I cannot wait to get back up there!

Thanks to Todd the ski patroller for showing us the way up to Mt Temple - not only an awesome hill but an awesome crew as well!
