As if the last three days of the World Heli Challenge weren't epic enough!
The Sunday after the last day of the World Heli Challenge - 6th September - I am invited on a heli mission the night before by Rachael Oaks Ash and Carol from Souther Lakes Heli, to go with the World Heli Challenge overall male ski winner Ted Davenport and awesome photographer Camilla Stoddart.
I couldn't believe my luck! As soon as I heard this I left the party I was supposed to be at raging until 6am, and went straight to bed. When I woke the skies were blue and the sun was shining... another epic day!
We are driven out to the Minerets station and taken in a cute little boat over to the main landing zone across the lake and introduced to our guide (who is a snowboarder.. mean...) Jeremiah. High cloud and flat light in the morning meant that Camilla was a little frustrated, however after lunch the clouds opened up, the sun shone and the temperature warmed.
Ted found an awesome gnarley line in one of our bowls and I found a really fun long spine which was sitting bright in the sun. Both Ted and I got dropped at the top of the bowl and left to our own devices to get to each of our lines while being followed and photographed by Camilla in the helicopter.
All in all an awesome day and great times with Southern Lakes Heli. I was stoked to get asked out with the crew of Rachael, Camilla, Ted and our awesome guide Jeremiah...
Check out the vid below to see Ted getting stoked on his line while in the chopper!
