After a whirlwind week and still no partying to be had :( I spend all Monday last minute organising to go up to the North Island, Whakapapa, for the awesome event heald yearly - the Export Extremes! This year the comp meant a little bit more to me as it is just newly part of the Free Ride World Qualifier circuit - I need to get as many points as possible!
The venue - Policeman's
I tried my hardest to talk the girls competing in the World Heli Challenge to come along with me - but none would be swayed which meant that I was left on my lonesome to fly up to Wellington, rent a car and drive up to Ohakune. All in all - even though I was gutted for being on my own - it actually ended up being quite a nice little trip away.
I arrived into Ohakune around 8pm which is when the registration was on at the Projection Room. Perfect - I rolled in stiff from my 4 hour drive and was greeted by the old crew from the year before, I didn't feel so lonely anymore. After registering I drove up to the lodge I was staying and passed out.
I Woke refreshed and ready to do another big mountain comp! Rocked up to the bottom of the event and was stoked! The venue the comp was being held on called "policeman's" was epic! So many different lines, options and features.
On my first run I got unbelievably lost and scared the onlookers by heading towards the massive death cliffs. I was sort of okay on my second run - missed a couple of my hits in the middle of it though - I don't know what was wrong with me!
All in all an awesome competition in an awesome venue - and to finish it off, I came first in the female snowboard category - I am definitely back to Ohakune next year!
