Free Ride World Tour - Chamonix
I arrived in Euro-land roughly three weeks ago. Lufthansa Airlines lost my board bag for ages so I only got two proper weeks of riding in - and even got a couple of powder days in those 2 weeks. Some people would not be impressed with only 2 powder days in two weeks but where I'm based for my euro trip - Mayrhofen, Zillertal Valley, Austria - has the meanest park around with many long jib runs to go with it. Not only does it have this - on a pow day the terrain is amazing. So no wonder why it is my second season coming back to the Austrian wonderland, and no wonder that I am stoked wether it is snowing or not!
I have since temporarily left Mayrhofen to follow my first three competitions. First stop Chamonix, France, one of my favourite places to ride so I'm amped on this event and the venue is amazing, and, to top it off my twin sister Janina has arrived fresh off the plane from Fernie, British Columbia, Canada.
Janina and I are staying in a quaint little Chalet right in the middle of town - Le Chalet Whymper. Breakfast and fast internet - who could want more?
The Event in Chamonix was supposed to run on Saturday however it is PUKING with snow right now and visibility is bad - so the competition has been postponed to Sunday which means one more day to scope the venue and chill out.
I'm pretty stoked on the next two to three weeks - next two stops after Chamonix will be Engadin in Switzerland a level 3 qualifier event and Fieberbrunn in Austria, the second Free Ride World Tour stop "female only" event.
Keep an eye out for more updates from me on the current Chamonix competition and check out the video below for some pre FWT shenanigan's in Chamonix!!
