Firstly and most importantly a huge thanks to Riley Bathurst for all the amazing photos, without him I wouldn't bother to write this because lets be honest we call like the pretty pictures more than the reading. Check him out and employ him for freelance work at:
So this is all about the chill series which went down at Olympus during the last week of August. There was meant to be 2 days at Craigeburn and 2 days at Olympus, with one day reserve for weather, but that old weather had other ideas and the official comp (and prize money) was condensed into one big day at Mt Olympus, after the Craigeburn event was reduced to an 'expression session' where competitors were watched semi-formally as they skied around and prizes given to those who impressed. At least the day at Olympus was bluebird, the snow was a bit wind affected and variable though.
I'm going to try to do the rest of the writing with the captions of the photos and links to other peoples prime efforts, except for these sentences: Tom Brownlee you were skiing so well, was a bummer to see you crash, I stole the top section of your line because it looked really fun, thanks. Chill and everyone else involved thanks so much for putting it on. Smoothy, Pete, Si, Mark, Luke, Lorain, Jake and everyone that drove straight from Olympus to Wanaka with me for the Base party: epic roadie. Philip Harlaut: that was a scary crash I'm glad you're OK.
it's a slideshow!
