Tomorrow New Zealand will welcome pop sensations Stan Walker, Ginny Blackmore and Justice Crew to Queenstown’s snow-capped peaks.

Both performances will be beamed into the homes of Sunrise viewers across Australia on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 June.

Perfectly timed with the recent opening of New Zealand’s ski fields, Kiwi artist Stan Walker (winner Australian Idol, 2009) will perform his new chart-topping single “Holding You” with fellow super star Ginny Blackmore on Thursday 19 June. The performance will be live from Queenstown’s lakefront in front of the Novotel hotel for Sunrise viewers and locals.

Sunrise will broadcast from Queenstown over two days from 19 to 20 June. This is the first time the entire show has been recorded in New Zealand.

Tourism New Zealand General Manager Australia, Tony Saunders said it was a huge coup to play host to Australia’s most popular breakfast show.

“It’s the ultimate opportunity to present winter magic in New Zealand to our largest international visitor market and we are thrilled to welcome such fantastic talent to Queenstown”, he said.

Sunrise is now in its 11th year as Australia’s favourite breakfast show, with an average weekly reach of 3 million viewers *.

Filming has included live weather crosses from New Zealand’s magical winter locations including Mt Cook, Tekapo and Wanaka in the lead up to live action from Queenstown’s lakeside on Thursday 19 June.

The live filming will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival set to take place in Queenstown 20-29 June.
