We received about 10cms of dry fresh snow on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, adding to that, ALL of our snowmakers are in full production with these long cold days and nights, we have made a phenomenal amount of snow in a very short space of time.
Our snow making capability is better than it has ever been, and on top of this natural snow base, we have a great head start for progressing further up the mountain.
Conditions look great for Thursday and Friday to complete the cover and prepare the slopes for opening on Saturday. The beginners and intermediate slopes will be open, and we will open further terrain as soon as possible.
Each year we like to open for club members a day early - however this is not going to eventuate this year as we make a late run on getting the field ready to open for all.
These School holidays Rainbow are running Kids programs for those who are looking for great value lesson packages - the 2 and 4 day programs have 2 lessons of 2 hours each day. Any school aged children can join.
All details on promotions, packages and events are on the website and Rainbow facebook page.
Rainbow 2014 team:
Your 2014 season Rainbow team have assembled in St Arnaud, and will be ready to welcome you to Rainbow on Saturday. Make sure to say hi to Jono Hay - mountain Manager returning for another year. You will also recognise a lot of very familiar faces around, with many staff members returning again.
Club Members if you are up on Saturday - come over to Robert Lodge to enjoy a celebration of the 2014 season opening , and kick off to the 10th year anniversary with friends and fellow club members.
Just a quick warning on the road, the Rainbow access road will be shaded and icy, so chains will be essential - please follow the instructions on signs and ensure your chains fit, especially if you have a new vehicle or new wheel size.
And while you are driving up the road spare a thought for the guys that have made this road so good over many years. Rainbow Ski Area owes a huge amount of thanks to Edridge Contracting who deal with all of our road maintenance, from washouts to new culverts and on field terrain work. Findlater Construction are also a major sponsor, this season all of the field repairs from flood damage were taken care of, again huge efforts. Just Awesome sponsors!
Finally when you arrive and the kids are on the planks - we strongly advise Boris and Lee’s Café, they will again be serving delicious coffees and home-made alpine food.
