Another blast from the past at Whakapapa - watching the cute young up-&-coming ski racers making a good attempt at bashing the slalom gates in the Valley last weekend.

Their "kiwi" Ruapehu Race jackets looked smart and made me "green" with envy (ha!!)

Because my first Whakapapa Race Uniform was black/blue, super ugly, no waterproofing and took a good hour to wring out after snow or rain on a bad weather day - which fortunately for me there very very few of those bad weather Ruapehu days in the past 3 weeks of the school holidays. How lucky was that.

Certainly spotted some talent in the K Series and first year FIS groups - my favourite Dixon Girls - Ellen, Amy and Hannah, Bronte Marquet, Harry Price and his wee mate Faylen to name a few. So watch out down South in the K Cup this year!

I have been honing up on my pool skills at International Park and plan to keep up some practice down South so that I can stage a rechallenge when I return to Ruapehu in September.

Now I am in the Air and on my way South to Queenstown - so looking forward to catching up with some good mates at Coronet Peak!!

Its going to be awesome competing at the Winter Games alongside heaps of ski buddies from Overseas as well as the locals.

Blog #3 will sure to be raving about more great snow, hard training and lots of humour from Queenstown!

Watch this space!

Have fun,

Sarah J
