Mt. Hotham ANC's and NZ Winter Games action ...

Mt. HOTHAM ANC

A massive thankyou to Mt. Hotham Race Organisers and Race Department for once again running a great 1st ANC Cup Series of races despite some very difficult weather during the week.

The first GS day was postponed so we hired the DVD “the Castle” to hone up on our basic Aussie humour knowledge – so hilarious - you so have to watch it!

After a great first run on the last slalom day, the weather including – no exaggeration - horizontal hail, rocks, eucalyptus branches and tree bark, all ending up on the Race Course!  My 2nd run never eventuated – what a bummer!

We did have to dodge the odd Wombat roadkill, huge by comparison to our Possum roadkill, on the way from Melbourne to Hotham and even spotted a couple of Roos in the distance.

Looking forward to the competitive Series #2 & #3 of the ANC Cup where the Aussie skiers come out to NZ to continue the Trans Tasman challenge.

QUEENSTOWN WINTER GAMES

The line-up of World Cup stars in Queenstown has to be seen to be believed and us Kiwis are so very lucky and honoured to be lining up in the start gates next to them in the inaugural Winter Games. There are definitely many “hot bods” in lycra on the slopes of Coronet Peak to be seen -  even the most focused girl needs to keep her eyes on the Race!!

The awesome turn-out of organizers and volunteers have helped make this important International Event in our own backyard become a reality, despite pretty challenging weather conditions. Many of these volunteers, in their groovy Volly Bibs and Hats, are very familiar as they are parents of racers and ex racers, master skiers and ex racers themselves. Big thanks everyone!

The G.S on Friday was a huge success and I’m now looking forward to the Slalom on Sunday and the Closing Ceremony bash.

Will keep you posted but if you are interested in results, check them out on the website: www.wintergamesnz.com

Have fun out there,
