It is a good day to be on the hill today, and shake off that Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, recession, H1N1 blues.

The AMEX Queenstown Winter fest kicked off with a bank last night, all the big fields are now open with most others opening next weekend. There is a huge calendar of events planned this week with one of my favourite events happenning today, the Browns Ski Shop Mountain Bikes on Snow

The Ohakune Mardi Gras is tonight. Conditions should remain dry for the evening before the big storm heading in from the north moves in early tomorrow morning.

There is generally good on-piste riding in most ski & board areas although it is starting to get pretty hard packed in some areas.

FORECAST: The North Island and the top of the South Island should get some freshies this Monday from a northerly storm, then expect clear conditions midweek before a good southerly dump moving in on Friday.

Farrah Fawcett, that hair, those teeth, that poster.  And, whatever you thought of Jacko, he was as talented as he was eccentric.  I grew up with Thriller, and Bad and enjoyed listening to his music and learning the moon walk. How bizzare that these two icons of our youth passed on the same day.  Kind of stole each others thunder.  I wonder what there chatting about while standing at the Pearly Gates? RIP.
