The colder temps have returned, the snowmaking is cranking and the groomers are making the cord.

It's going to be awesome with a good coverage of both natural and man-made white gold up at The Remarkables for their opening on Saturday. Locals are peaking and gearing up for the Queenstown Winter Festival which is just two weeks away.

Turoa also will be opening up their chairs to give the North Islanders their first taste of winter. Remember that the Ohakune Mardi Gras is only two weeks away on June 27th.

After a great opening weekend last weekend, Dobson's snowmaking is hosing out the snow for their re-opening this weekend. They are open the next two weekends before opening up full time. The forecast looks great!!

Lyford again today with clear conditions and a moderate westerly. The forecast has eased so it looks pretty good up there right through until the weekend now, with some wind tomorrow and on Friday.

Mt Hutt Clear skies, light to moderate breezes and -6 degrees in the basin at 6am. Brrr, wrap up warmly! Expect the snowmaking to be operating all day today. Fine conditions will prevail for the weekend so get the gear out and get up there. Take care on the roads, the roads will be icy in the morning, especially on bridges.

Coronet Peak has been pumping out the white gold. Their white room is looking superb again after the spring condition over the last week. Their snow guns look fantastic in the dawn light. The forecast for the weekend looks good with just a little high cloud. Just two weeks now until the Queenstown Winter Festival

FORECAST: An anticyclone will dominate for the next week. Expect settled conditions with cold overnight temps. The entire industry will be sucking huge amount of power from the grid to make their white gold. Lucky the hydro lakes are full eh. It's going to get the biggest weekend of the season so get up their, push play and have a blast. Take care on the roads, a fender bender or worse will spoil your whole trip.
