If you live of the east coast of the South Island and you listened to that rain on your roof overnight and are now waking up to a cloudy wet cold morning. Head to the mountains where it is crisp and clear for a great days riding. Most of the unsettled weather is just brushing the east coast and not heading inland.
The place to be then is definitely the South Island. Lyford is closed today. Lyford is close to the east coast and copping this coastal invader. At least it's snowing. The forecast has eased so it looks pretty good right through until the mid-weekend once this weather passes.
Mt Hutt Clear skies, light to moderate breezes and -6 degrees in the basin at 6am. Brrr, wrap up warmly! Expect the snowmaking to be operating all day today. Fine conditions will prevail for the weekend so get the gear out and get up there. Take care on the roads, the roads will be icy in the morning, especially on bridges.
Coronet Peak has been pumping out the white gold. Their white room is looking superb again after the spring condition over the last week. Their snow guns look fantastic in the dawn light. The forecast for the weekend looks good with just a little high cloud. Just two weeks now until the Queenstown Winter Festival
FORECAST: An anticyclone will dominate for the next week. Expect settled conditions with cold overnight temps.
