The forecast is pretty good for the holiday makers across the country for today, tomorrow and Friday but the North Island and the NE of the south will cop it this weekend. MORE SNOW!!

Absolutely perfect powder is the being described as 'chaulky' and 'fluffy' at most areas around the country.  Good consistant snowfalls to low levels and cold temperatures have created brilliant snow conditions to even the lowest ski areas in the country.

There is more in the forecast for the weekend with a low pressure system moving onto the North Island from the North Tasman Sea.  The system will reach the Central Plateau about midday bringing Gale Easterlies and snow.  Snow is forecast to fall to low levels as far south as The MacKenzie country on Sunday.  A fresh top up in the middle of the school holidays, perfect!!  The weather across the country will clear up again for the early part of next week.  The next northern raider is due again on Wednesday next week.

Well, I have made it up to Porters and Lyford this week and the photos coming in from the Snowco fmaily inticate that it is the same everywhere.  BRILLIANT!!  Snow conditions couldn't be better.  Time to get up there people.

A big congratualtions to Adam Hall and the other winners of the New Zealand Snow Sports Awards.  NZ has some huge up and coming talent and some good medal prospects in the next few years. This is the first year that I have not made it to the awards ceremony in about 8 years.  I hear that Kristy and the team at Snow Sports NZ are getting better at running it every year.  The event has grown significantly since I helped organised it before the Snow Sports NZ restructure.  Well done Snow Sports crew on a successful night.  Our athletes get little enough support and praise so it is great to see an event like this gather momentum.
