Snowco is now on Facebook, so if you are a Facebook addict, we'll post the latest articles and blog right to your wall. Plus the evil Nor-wester and YOUR profile.

As the dreaded nor-wester builds over the country ski areas will be hoping that they get more southerly snow after the NW wind.  New Zealand's weather has now settled into a pattern of cold fronts coming out of the South Tasman sea.  Four are expected between now and late next week.

This pattern can produce damaging and warm nor-westers ahead of each front particularly in the east, and then as the front passes a change to cold unsettled conditions with snow.  Many storms will remove more snow than they leave behind.  The strong nor-westers stripping ridge lines back to the bedrock and reducing the white gold base before the southerly freshens the slopes.

The next storm will produce strong NW winds from this afternoon until later on Sunday.  A southerly change will be short lived as the second Nwer strenthens on Monday ahead of No.2. No.2 will hang around in the south and will be joined by No.3 on Wednesday, this might produce another snow result.  The long term forecast indicates that another slow moving front will push the wind speeds up again late in the week in the south.

So a windy weekend ahead with the best riding being on Tuesday, and then late in the week in the North Island.

SNOWCO.MOBI is a website that you cannot see on the web.  It directs you back to Snowco.  However, look it up on your phone and that's another story.  All the reports, all of the webcams right to your phone.

If you don't have one, it is a great way to hear about what friends and family who live distant are up to, and to find with long lost friends.
