Anyone going to be heading down over the next few weeks? finally had all my gear arrive today so no longer have to borrow pieces... pretty flexible with dates whether it is a day trip/weekend/mid-week/whaka or turoa. ^^^yeah prob will be keen for that. Prob gonna pass on this weekend as i am too tired to drive down! Have flexible hours so usually go down friday arvo. Day trips are a possibility too.

I've organised to head down this friday/sat/sun with a few guys from the uni ski lodge on whaka side, if you do end up down that way i'd be keen to meet up for a few rides or what not.

hmm..looks to me like friday will be variable, sat sunny, and sunday crap! The strong winds are the thing to worry about..reports calling for storm or gales winds over 100km. Sat best bet, but winds still strong.

I'm still learning myself so even if it is lower mountain due to winds, suits me. If it is all closed well seeing the lodge is up on the mountain can always just grab a sled and have a bit of fun on that

No luck finding them... not sure where I put them. I used the gloves we wore back in '96 and those froze up after the first 5 mins haha as the weekend was pissing down.

Arrghhh just when I'd packed everything away for my UK/Austria trip it starts snowing again......... .

May as well get in early. Myself and CCS will be doing our usual Friday dash every weekend to Turoa. Ideal depature time is 4pm all going well and returning Sunday evenings snow dependent.
We go rain, wind or snow normally as we have a season room. send me a PM if you are interested in carpooling to save the moola for the pub.

I'm keen - driver or passenger! Gonna be doing some midweek missions to Ruapehu soon I reckon (just as soon as I clear this workload...) Down Mon, back Fri, skip the usual weekend madness. Haven't decided on Whakas or Turoa yet - probably try to do a bit of both.

Hi all. Only one in my ski group coming from Auckland. The rest live in Wellington. Solo drive is not fun.
Looking for company to drive to Ohakune for mid-week day trips at short notice. And some weekends.

I live in One Tree Hill & can do the driving (or share the driving if not taking my car).

Hey guys im doing the snowboard instructor course at turoa on 23rd august through till 27th (monday-friday), is anyone keen to head down with me as my mate just bailed and a solo drive is no fun, also i could be keen on just catching a ride down with someone as i have friends going down the weekend of the 27th/28th and can catch a ride back with them

Anyone heading down to Turoa this weekend? I'm taking Mon off which means I'm actually coming back on Monday.

Thinking of 2 options atm, either driving there myself, for which I would like to share the drive and petrol costs with someone else (up to 2 people), or just catching a ride back to Auckland on Mon afternoon, ideally after 4pm as I'd like to do a full day on the mountain.

Anyone keen to go down midweek to Turoa, it's looking mighty fine for Mon, Tues & Wed to avoid the crazy weekend crowds. Will split accommodation (there is cheap accommation for 3 beds for $95 per night) and petrol cost equally depending on the number of people travelling down. I drive a fancy beemer with leather seats so preferably if you have a 4WD or car it would be better or I can use my wife's Caldina wagon that will fit 3 humans + gears comfortably.
