Those pics Voltaren posted definitely make it worth the 7 hour trip

By joshbosh

Defintely.

The lack of crowds, primo snow condition and great weather has left Blunt a very happy camper.

A sneaky look forward to Labour weekend and its looking ok too. Unfortunatly I have gigs on Saturday and Sunday but hope to have both offsprings sliding down the hill on Labour Monday

Metvuw shows a large anticyclone spreading across the country later in the week so could be correct.

Looks like there has been some more snow falling on the Mountain today. The cams show a lot less rock around the Alpine Meadow.

Yep, gremmie status fully applies OS. I just wish it would rub off on my son. Sure he's enjoying it but when you're travelling up the Giant and he's asking when were going home to ensure he can get some geek time in before bed - its a bit deflating.

I was just quoting blunt on his "7 hours" to be worth it for the view Voltaren posted... usually 3.5-4 hours for us to Whakapapa each way depending on traffic and how many stops we take.

I contract so during winter I generally cut down my office hours and get a lot of time in in the evenings with a data card and my laptop when I'm in Ohakune. Works well unless I have beers early then work kinda goes out the window. I'm pondering snagging a rental in the area for the winter months next year but that requires a lot of planning.

Grooner: To deposit a specific and sensitive part of one's anatomy firmly upon a rail, box, rope, trail marker or any similar object. Named after both the area that becomes ruined and the noise you make afterwards.

Word made up by me (typo - meant groomer). Defintion by Rozboon.
