So yeah.
Not approved, Not consented. And no skifield in this country would consider doing development during their main income season. because as a punter coming into porters massive construction and earthworks is really appealing.
This retard needs to stop huffing glue.

Got to say anyone who is opposed to more jobs, tourists coming in to Canterbury under the current situation need to take a lot at themselves and what there real agenda is.The one thing this area needs now is growth and investment, not selfish people wanting a very small piece of the mountains to them self.If you really want that, there's heaps to choose from, just get of your arse and find it.Or are you all to lazy to hike that far and prefer lift acess backcountry.I have to say that I am amazed at the negative comments that people have regarding this,Luckly the pros outway the doomsdayers 20000 to 3 so far.

Its in the investors best interests to make as much coin as possible, the ticket prices will more likely than not match other commercial rates.

So for Walt & Four20's benefit current status is that;
=> District Plan change is essentially approved
=> Water supply consents will essentially be granted
=> Wastewater consents still need some work however

...not that Walt hasn't already poured over the reports already.

The last aspect is the kicker I'd suggest as it is the impact on the water ways and/or ground water... it is not a cheap thing to address for a developer planning on x amount of 'bums on seats' (so to speak) for 5 months of the year.

Walt... why wait until the reports come out essentially giving the green light from a RMA perspective and then associate your insulting posts with being a 'supporter' of the project??

Finally had a chance to read through those documents. I'm quite impressed at how positive the bureaucrats are about the development, but naturally the reports are full of conditions that will make the development cost a fair bit more. I expect the developers foresaw this eventuality and budgeted accordingly.

In any case it's great news for skiing in New Zealand that this kind of thing can still get past all the greenies and buearaucrats.

Oh yeah.... heres some info I found from the dudes doing the application.......

The proposal will be developed in stages, guided by the master
plan that Boffa Miskell helped prepare after thorough assessment
of the alpine environment. The village has been designed to fit
with the natural topography and character of the site as illustrated
in the modelling and visualisation prepared by Boffa Miskell.
The proposed plan change also makes provision for infrastructure,
waste and stormwater disposal, together with mitigation measures
to restore local natural habitats in addition to wider environmental
compensation being offered by Porters Ski Area.
The plan change application was lodged in July 2010, hearings
held in July 2011 and the decision is expected in February 2012
