looks rubbish in Tahoe, was far better going for a bodyboard this morning at New Brighton, it PUMPS, must have been about 10 waves I caught this morning, at least 1.5 ft, maybe even 2, man it was pumping, glad I was not in Tahoe, snowboarding.

Strange, if you look at the Turoa cam on the 26th Jan, it appears there has been a dusting up there :-S So random for supposidly being summer aye, but hey, maybe a good hint for the up coming winter.....Fingers crossed XXX
Wahoo is bloody warm in Wellington and all the 7s crowd are out around town in their costimes. Some of the ladies just look spectatcular! It (the 7s) just wouldn't work in Auckland.

I don't recommend trying on all your new purchases at once in the middle of summer

yup we hit kirkwood mate. awesum hill with some of the sickest cornice drops ive seen ever. natural halfpipes galore as well.(not sh1thouse ones like mt dobson, but actual fun,carveable natural pipes)We hit double black diamond chair 10 2nd run of the day. that chair wouldnt exist in NZ. double blacks here are for real. 8 hills down with rose to go. only heavenly got bypassed this year. squaw,alpine,kirkwood,homewood,sugarbowl so much fun terrain and until the entire bay area arrived for presidnets weekend no1 around.

Martinborough is the greenist I have ever seen it in Feb. By now it should a big brown dust bowl! A farmer guy I spoke to the otherday told me how all the farms are stock piling feed thanks to bumper summer growth ... ready for a harsh winter. Been some talk on surfco about snowboarding looking 'unco' compared to skiing. I have to admit being a bit disappointed with the boardercross as a spectacle and actually thought the ski-cross looked better. And then after watching the downhill last night those skiers are unbelieveable ... so fast and on edge. Maybe after another couple of season boarding I could be tempted to give the twin planks a go

will check your link after work. blunt for straight lining ice skis are mint. for knee seep pow all bets are off. depends what u want to do ride groomers like some forum members or shred some natural terrain like a few others
i reckon skiers look like clowns wen they fall over while boarders look much more natural

Skis are safer than a board in my opinion at high speed and on ice. You are perhaps safer at high speed on actual racing skis and racing boots due to the firm fit and edge grip/vibration damping of the skis. It only takes me 30-40 km cycling a week to have enough strength to handle race skis although I have never tried the down hill version.

So how many times do you tumble in a day then? Whats wrong with sideslipping as boarders do that too when they are on runs too tight and steep? I do not understand however why wedge turns are used so much when learning. The wedge turn gave me sore thighs on my second day so I applied the idea of skiing slightly uphill to let the mountain slow me down at the end of a turn.

i have no problems with any skiers and was sticking up for you guys
How many times do i fall in a day? how longs a piece of string? park,pow or cruising? ive busted a collarbone,fractured the other,headbutted a tree and busted my back on a 3m cliff so id say not often but when i do its worthwhile.
now stop trying to read stuff into my posts that isnt there, i know plenty of skiers who rip it up and love ridng with them
