i reckon skiers look like clowns wen they fall over while boarders look much more natural
Would rather look like a clown and not hurt myself than
fall "Naturally" and risk injury!!

Been some talk on surfco about snowboarding looking 'unco' compared to skiing. I have to admit being a bit disappointed with the boardercross as a spectacle and actually thought the ski-cross looked better. And then after watching the downhill last night those skiers are unbelieveable ... so fast and on edge. Maybe after another couple of season boarding I could be tempted to give the twin planks a go
Skis are safer than a board in my opinion at high speed and on ice. You are perhaps safer at high speed on actual racing skis and racing boots due to the firm fit and edge grip/vibration damping of the skis. It only takes me 30-40 km cycling a week to have enough strength to handle race skis although I have never tried the down hill version.

Its funny you know because I'm happy to admit that I'm not the most adventures surfer out there but am looking forward to a snow season of discovery. I'm not ready to bomb the girdlestone just yet but keen as to get away from the crowds.

was watching the winter olympics snowboard slalom before and noticed the 7th place getter was called "Claudia Reigler" of austria.
hmm i thought to myself..isnt there a kiwi connection there?
theres a skier from austria that settled in nz and won a number of worldcup races but there is also a boarder as well that was in above race...are they one and the same?![]()

That's the soft booters. Check out the Hard booters on Alpine boards. Looks wicked as. Cranked over like a bottom turn at Waimea. Still wouldn't be as fast as downhill skiers though. Is there such a thing as downhill snowboarding?

Freshie, I'm pretty sure it's the same Claudia Reigler as raced for NZ.

The one who skiied for NZ did ok in a few world cup comps but never in the Olympics from memory.
After all the hype and ads for the NZ team on Sky they really didn't do that well. Pity really. The conditions on Cypress Mountain for the last few days were not flash ![]()

so similar to NZ conditions? dont see the point in sending people over to finish last and being happy with it. snowboarders got best results. someone needs to talk to jossi and byron about getting into that mogul to big air sh1t. send over the real talent![]()
I would have thought that some of the pros from NZ would have been competing at the Olympics, there's some really talented riders floating round NZ

I survived the MoH axe and still have a job. Thankfully coz looks like I'm just about to take on a whole heap more debt to get me a lifestyle in the country.
Not going to stop me from a season of riding but may cut down the number of days I hoped to achieve on the hill. ![]()

Nah, I don't think so, bummer. Seems like if you change it on one it dispears on the other tho, so you have to reload the new one on the other - if you get my drift.
In other words I have to change mine twice but they had to be the same.
BP has 2..anonymous avatar here and scuba steve on surf

yeah but's that cos he has 2 different logons from the changeover palava.

The office certainly has it's moments these days. Yesterday was most certainly a negative day. I'm sitting tight for now....
Just back from Canada. Fabulous. Want to take the season off on LWOP (one of the 'perks' of being govt wage slave) but been denied as they don't want to pay a contractor while I am away. Undergoing restructuring but not likely till end of year. Can't wait that long (would get stuff all pay out anyway) so going to quit. Sold house, no kids, so will just do it and see what happens. Bring it on! This isn't a rehersal.

So does ours. Our Tech Consultants got "restructured" last week with 1 job loss. It's only a matter of time before we get knifed.
Although 1 of the other Systems guys just handed in his notice and 3 of us have applied for other jobs. If the turkeys that supposedly manage this place aren't carefull they're going to have f'all left to manage.

breeze feels a tad cold today, but rather than pass up my shorts too soon, I will simply add ugg boots. It's ok. I am at home no one can see my shonky ensemble.
Uggs rock, and have done for 35 years.
They were absolutely de-riguer in Tauranga in 1974.
I might get a new pair this season.

had a flyer in the mail today, advertising Warren miller's latest "dynasty".\
