RAL wanna keep the temp cafe at Knoll Ridge

From this week's Ohakune Bulletin

Constructed at Knoll Ridge as an interim structure until the completion of the replacement café building. Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Ltd are seeking the deletion of condition 2 to allow the temporary cafe building to be retained for use as an indoor meeting place for various groups including community and school
groups. The site is within the Protected Areas Zone of the Operative Ruapehu District Plan and is also within the Amenity Policy Area

Drove past yesterday and it was looking pretty solid above the HN at Turoa in some of those wide gullies.
I was a bit surprised actually - Whaka was massively leaner up top.

There is, and its a sticky so should show at the top of the threads when you click on 'view all'.

Here is the link http://snow.co.nz/forum/ski-snowboard/985/ [snow.co.nz]

The Mt Ruapehu site uses dynamically generated file names - the format is h++p://mtruapehu.com/webcams/field/x/yymmddhhmm00.jpg

The URL for the thumbnails is static but they're tiny.

I could probably do some sort of language-fu to make it work but I have NFI what this forum is built on, in fact I think it's a custom built thing. So it probably doesn't have stuff like date variable expansion.

Super-edit: You can use this knowledge to dig out webcam shots from any time/date as long as it's in that site. For example, midfield on 01 October 2010 at 10am.

http://mtruapehu.com/webcams/turoa/7/101001100000.jpg [mtruapehu.com]

More edit from scrunging at their site:

Valid camera numbers are:
Turoa:
2 - Base area, different format for URL
7 - Midfield
24 - View from Ohakune
Whakapapa:
2 - The Pinnacles
4 - The valley
12 - Happy Valley, different format for URL
25 - Waterfall/Express, different format for URL
26 - GNS Camera, different format for URL

Ruby on Rails so it'd be pretty easy for snow.co.nz to do but you couldn't 'inject' it into a post as they will normalize the text in the post.
i.e. still shows as and not '110803'

....maybe, i think, but who knows.

ahh - I had some tags that didn't show so some RoR/Web type guru might be able to do something but most likely they just drop any thing in a tag

^^ most likely so with a bit of slush essentially the same.
What is it, ~5% difference?
and its just a season pass eh?

Certainly not worth calling yourself an Australian!!!

Actually Jude, I think the RAL guys know how much you love aussies - I heard their doing a deal to put all the extra aussie punters up in the clubs!!

Ngauruhoe way looked minters today, even better than the cam pic shows. A shame Ruapehu didn't fully peek itself out. Before brown started to peak through, could of been mistaken for a light July dump. The flakes were absolutely ginormous this morning Whaka Village way but she certaintly monstered away fast apparently. Ovrall feels like a good old 2 degree wind howling winters day

a few comments re some of the bits going on on this thread.

Oldscool thought about it and thought why not My Addiction [trademe.co.nz]

Have splitboard and mates with them as well so no problems if HNE is not going

See above if mountain burps and lifts are no go

Might have to do a few long weeks if the snow keeps up and like Voltaren says the NE storms are the best as they can drop a lot more and lighter snow.
I remember in the 2009 season with the 5m base I had weeks of knee deep fresh down there. Think I did 6 weeks straight as the snow was so good in Aug/Sept.

If this snow keeps up it will be epic. Must of been falling dry om Monday as there were still some dry pockets around yesterday at low levels...Better than lots of the 'pow' that fell last season.

HaHa, saw that on the Ruapehu webpage with the links on the right to the listings.

Thought about listing your collection but apparently you have to actually own the stuff to sell it on trademe....

Still trying to figure out how to sell the M.I.L legally......

make it 11 months of powder and I'd agree, 11 months of ice I'm not so sure. I'd rather skate than ride bullet proof ice, but there is nothing as awesome as powder except maybe the perfect wave.
