That is good news, makes sence. But I will miss how empty the Glacier was of people this last season.

It will make the Triangles and Glacier a bit more travelled.. and while they were a lovely hide-away there is a huge amount of terrain out there (especially on the lower mountain) that is very un-utilised. Great to see Turoa going 'outwards' and using their gift area to it's full extent.

The Glacier will never be the same again

I can not help but wonder if the Highflyer is going to become like the west ridge quad at whakapapa. Lack of snow at the base preventing it operating?

There's typically a lot of snow that remains in that valley late into the season.. it's more the ridges that always get stripped away.

I did a number of trips out there this spring and the Triangles/Glacier were heaped with snow, as well as Cinch and Dreadlock Holiday.

A few strategically placed snowbridges could sort some of the access probs? Maybe a little rockgrooming

They had some snow-bridges across the ridges on Once only, and that gave access back onto Hot Sister/The Sisters (can't remember what we agreed it was called) and they lasted quite well. They may have been used for moving snow into alpine meadow, but certainly aided returns. Wouldn't need them as much with the high-flyer chair in however

While the Glacier will have far more people going down there just think how much further out or down you will be able to go, not to mention a big boost in lift capacity if as many poeple ride it as they did before the highnoon went in.

is it a whole new chair.ie a 6?

Or is it the same 4 seater just moved or extended down the hill?

Just the same 4 seater. Can anyone confirm where it ends? Will it be at the giant cafe or by the movenpick return?

it sounds like it will be just above the pick return with access back to the highnoon.
