Haha... it wasn't just ski patrol. I suspect tracking that much mountain out takes a concerted effort from the patrol, lifties, ski school and even a helping hand from all the non-snow related staff

first time hitting the cabin i decided (badly) to ollie up on to it just to check it out and come back down. I switched at the apex, came down, caught an edge on the run in and got smashed right in front of ski patrol.
Was having a great day in the park so pushed the boat out a bit and ended up catching an edge on a splintered trapezoid in the stash and hit it real hard totally winding myself. The same ski patrol guy came down to check me out after being told "someone just took a f**kin hiding". I was ok though. Last run of the day and I smash my arm up on a log in the stash (again) and hike out to the medics. I meet the farkin same ski patrol guy again - who is now genuinely laughing at me.
That was every injury i got all season - all in the stash, in one day. But its totally awesome!
I'm more looking at the hill in the background ![]()

These are all from Japan this year...
A mixture of Ruapehu, Japan and maybe some Canada thrown in for good measure...
Out west somewhere.
These 2 aren't my pics, I was a bit ruined at the time... friends did a mission to the top on the last weekend.
Loading the ski tanks on a clear frosty morning. Colin will note the Chrysler Voyager being used to negotiate extreme road conditions such as tarmac and occasionally a slightly cold piece of rock.
Heading up...
On a good day Ruapehu is pretty damn good

They call it 'the dark side' for a reason...

Niseko
Choose your line carefully...
This sure ain't no picnic!!!
A good friend always covers their fallen friend in more snow...
Mmmm... pow.
More

Yours truly on the other end of the camera.
They weren't kidding, there was indeed a waterfall there.
Airbag jump, so SO freakin' sweet.
Mt Yotei in the evening
Getting at it
Winter wonderland...

great photos...good times...what is this thing called powder?
Awesome pics. Daylight saving ends this weekend ... always signals the start of winter ![]()

Those Japan pics are absolutely sick rozboon. And the airbag jump! I spent a good half day landing on my face doing backflips last year. That thing looks brilliant!
Awesome pics. Daylight saving ends this weekend ... always signals the start of winter- Blunt
Rozboon - Only 3 months to get that knee fixed. Looked like it took at hammering in Japan. Awesome pics from BTW. Way better than my tame Canada ones.
Pretty much scored a job at Ruapehu for half the season. Good bye corporate life...snow acres and the dole is the place for me....

Ski area staff often get blamed for this behaviour. In some cases that blame is justified, but often when you get to a ski area and the whole mountain is tracked before 9am it's the ski race teams who pay to use the lifts early in the morning who've done it.

Aww that top Craigiburn shot is excellent CCS! I had a day last season at that ridge and it was purrfect. Ride out right down to the road.
yeah it was an awesome fluke, cos I saw the building and snapped it before it disppeared and realised at the same moment where I was. Could see over to porters too!

The day we took the wrong turn when going to the crater lake. It was late September. We had to start on the top of the Knoll Ridge T. Someone "knew" the way and we ended up somewhere, it was an awesome 3 minute run down after
hiking up for 2 hours.

Japan tends to be more mellow than say, the Rockies. Anything really steep tends to be pretty short... although I'll see if I have any pics of the Niseko backbowls.
I'm told that around Hakuba you can find yourself some seriously scary steeps though.

Agree - but only been to Furano. Great snow but runs not as steep and exciting as BC. Want to paste some pics in - can't seem to work it out?? Technically challenged today
