True, but as they say it looks like you're riding with a toaster on your head and they have a tendency to get knocked off. I'm leaning towards a Contour, especially cos then I can play with polarising filters and aftermarket lenses. Plus if you get the GPS one you can bluetooth it to an ipod touch/iphone and see the screen in real time.

Plan to get at least a couple in our crew this year and capture plenty of footage. Maybe get a sick close follow-cam off some cliffs with you this year jedski... would be a sweet shot and not one I've seen?

I'm looking at a Go-Pro HD as well for this year. Want something I can take diving as well and they are waterproof to 60m or something silly. That being said I need to get the flat lens mod and also probably a red filter for it.

Vio looks powerful but the whole hideaway brick thing would ruin my day a bit if I was hucking stupid stuff off big stuff.

Contour has a lens ring adapter that allows you to use 37mm lenses.

The video footage above looks awesome, I am thinking Go Pro even though it doesn't look as good as contour (and GPS would be great for speed monitoring), you can use GOPRO underwater so more applications.

only problem i see for contour is the output is boring..just shows snow moving past rapidly..u cant actually see yourself unless u are videoing some one else!

least with go pro the assorted mounts get at least part of your body and skis moving thru the snow or if u have on a pole..u get your whole body and what u just rode thru. Plus u can get mounts that face u too..ie in the basejump clips.

Be aware the Go-Pro comes in different versions. Most of the good footage are shot with the new HD-Hero, but there is also a GoPro 960 model which is slightly older and only shoots 720p.

However that is pretty cheap for the top version Freshie!

I've got it. On the DVD version there is a segment that you can choose to watch in anaglyph (red/blue) 3d. The effect is very cool, it's a park shoot and they have some very interesting angles and it makes a lot of the tricks look amazing. They're also releasing a version on 3d-bluray (non anaglyph) which should be really really good. But yeah, it's not like the whole thing is in 3d and to be honest it's not going to bring anything new to the table in terms of watching someone ski a massive spine in Alaska. It's damn cool for park though and if they could get some closeup shots of someone skiing a pow pillow line or similar it would be very, very cool.

The national film archives (is that it?) on line are also absolutely brilliant, you can watch 'the leading edge' and such like.
