Seeing as Season Passes go on sale today I figured what better time to start the season thread.

So yeah, anyone want to lend me $385?

Sure at 100% interest. 5 years of not having to pay for passes has been great.

The cafe is not due to be finished till the school holidays. Well that's what I remember reading. Who cares as long as there is snow and the lifts are running that's all that really matters.

all going well there should be a new quad up knoll ridge next season. But who knows. I kinda like ts, they keep the runs nice and empty and keep the learners out of the way.

I have to say... without a doubt the High Noon Express is to blame for the vast increase in total goobers flopping their way down Big Bowl or, god forbid, wombling out past the ski area boundary.

One of my friends, while wearing an orange jacket, got followed way, way out glacier way by a group of complete novices... who thought he was a Mountain Host. Oooops.

yeah so many people don't read that sign. lift for advanced skiers riders and just hope on since it's comfy and fast.
If you can get up a tbar you should be able to get down, but anyone can get up on that chair. There are so many people who freak out at the top of snowbird.

Heard from horse's mouth that Knoll cafe won't open till after the holidays. If they can get helicopters to fly the long run roofing up. Apparently nothing around that can do it.

Just ski Whakapapa instead I hate that big ice sheet at the top of Snowbird etc caused by slide-slipping novices.

whakapapa can be great but not really worth it till the west is open. I have found turoa to have more choice early season, but can't beat the west at whaka once the snow is there and the far west t is going.

Disaster!!!!!! Fell off bike last night and cracked ribs (ow), snapped bone just under elbow (double ow), dislocated shoulder (triple ow). No plaster though and lots of good medication. Starting to bruise up nicely. Could be some ligament damage in shoulder - too early to tell. Could be kissing goodbye to my plans for the ski season....least legs ok.

Holy bike-crash batman! I hope you were doing something awesome at the time - in fact, there's gotta be a good story behind this, do tell...

You'll be fine, the number of park-rats I see rocking around with no poles and 1 arm in a cast is pretty enormous.

Legs Ok - so happy about that. Agree poles a waste of time anyway (unless you are hiking up hill). My own fault - riding on footpath and had to take evasive action to avoid kid on scooter and hit the deck - hard. Should have just run over the kid.

...no way. by the time the real snow arrives you'll be good as gold. i've skied after dislocating my shoulder, broken ribs, a compression fracture in my spine, and after dislocating an ankle. as long as yer knees are fine you'll be all good (even a dislocated ankle isn't a barrier when you've packed it into a ski boot). just get onto the drug relief and the rehab as fast as you can....the quicker you get rid of the swelling and start getting everything working again the better. i swear by the physio and oesto....worth every cent!

that is so true about ankles. Stuffed mine late last year and walking was really painful, but could snowboard without really noticing it. Worse bit was getting the boot on and even worse off.

Latest injuries part of of growing list (mailinly skiing)- broken nose , 2 x knee reconstructions (ACL same knee), broken thumb, last year broken ankle and ribs and now this. Think I will spend rest of life on couch knitting...yeah, right.
Rozboon - you must be seeing specialist this week? Reckon they will do an arthroscopy to see what the story is. Get them to do any repairs at same time. No point having two ops (happened to me once - woke up to the news they had found something that needed surgery which meant another long wait/stint in hospital/time off work/rehab).

Yeah, saw Prof. Horne yesterday. Man did he give it a nudge, hasn't hurt that much in ages
He sent me for an MRI to get a better idea of wtf is going on.

There's no way in hell it's a complete tear, but it might be a partial. I have (in all modesty) monster legs which is possibly mitigating it a bit.
