Getting punched by raceway and getting sued by some other bloke...snow co is starting to get dangerous. We totally shouldn't have posted what we wear on the meet-up thread

On another note there's a little bit of fresh by the looks of things, can't wait to get my first turns in. Only a couple of weeks until top to bottoms!

Been up on Turoa since Sunday - got a few hours in on Sunday but it was pretty wet…

Monday was way better - looking like this:

Today not so good:

Not as bad as I thought it would be. Got a new board this season but haven't had a chance to ride it yet - gonna ride my old one till there's better snow coverage. Not too many rocks but still enough to get a few scrapes. Was snowing today and found some nice powder pockets near the Flyer - just by the snow fences below the Giant are some good spots. Saw the base pylon number 9 go up today too - looks like it won't be too far away from being fixed.

Tomorrow looks like it might have some fine spots - looking forward to getting up!

Cool! Theres a munter depression coming across from the tasman early in the week too. Hopefully the rain forecast will fall as snow. Seems all the lows are coming from the west rather than starting below the south island.

No new snow overnight. There was a bit of skidoo action at 5am (grr) and I thought they were going to switch on the snowmakers as it was calm, clear and cold. Nothing on the RG - maybe on the Waterfall? Just started to snow lightly. Looks surreal through the sun.

Hey Jude
Thanks for the updates
Seems you are doing far more than what RAL are paid to do in terms of keeping their customers informed of conditions and expected areas opened up and when.
The snow report this am stated :- With the recent snowfalls preparation work is now in progress on building Upper Mountain trails.
A bit more detail would not go a miss. People realise this would not be set in stone as conditions can change, but an idea would be bloody good for planning possible trips this weekend etc. I for one will not spend 4 hours in a car if only HV is only open. It appears obvious from the cams and your pics that they have adequate snow to open certain terain now.
I am almost led to believe that they maybe employing delay tactics in order to get the toilets sorted on the upper mountain. lol
Sorry for the whine, i just need to organise a fix.
Again thanks for the pics mate.

Agree it does seem the same - thin early on and then wham! in early July. Fingers-x (although I don't want to do too much snow clearing in between batches of scones
About to do a rubbish run and hope my food drop can get up the road (they rang and said road closed - that may have changed - told them maybe they should invest in chains - go figure!) Good thing I didn't order 20 litres of icecream

Do you have a decent shovel? I grabbed a G3 Guide shovel the other day and it moves obscene amounts of snow in a big hurry.

Turoa
Movenpick Chair: Open: Access Only
High Flyer Chair: Open

Does that mean only the runs from the flyer chair are available or you can actually get all the way down?

Planning to head up for the w.e so im hoping it wont be everyone packed into the yahoo run ?

Valley T...
There are a few low spots, or holes, that need to be built up to the point where the T-bar ropes aren't too short and lift you off the ground.
today is the first day the cats have had a play in there and it's now just a matter of cat-hours to sort it out to run. yipee.
Waterfall-T after that I assume.
Second chair looks not good at this stage.
Out west looks really good, but might be an illusion.
Maybe the White Queen can sort it all out after baking scones.

Back from a couple of laps of the RG (on foot). Grocery run and rubbish so it's not all scones and snow shovelling (yep I have a collection of good shovels). BTW chicken/vege curry, rice followed by ginger and pear pudding with icecream for dins tonight - have deleted the sticky date pudding recipe NTS: Do not walk across Olafs with a 20kg plus pack and 6 dozen eggs. All well, but thigh deep and did wonder halfway across how stable the snow was. Very warm and sunny - feels like spring. Lower RG slippy/slushy. Spent part of the afternoon stomping out a track up to lodge (from edge of RG - only 50 metres or so)for some people arriving tonight. Aren't I nice

Here's a closer shot of the Waterfall. Took one of the RAL boys setting up the rope tow on Hut Flat but seem to have deleted that by mistake

yeah it looks skiiable, but perhaps not quite trail buildane under the express still. Im also interested to find out once knoll is going if they will have access
to aeroplane gully, steves bowl, yankee etc closed off as normal. Dont know why they do that, instead of moving the rope back to stop people going out west instead of closing all those trails off when they could be open. I hate to have to be sneaky and break the rules!

I'd say it's still quite bony under that cover. I already ripped my bases on the RG the other day (not serious). Can see some cat action on Valley and Knoll T's. Out West will definately be roped off. Think I'll wait for more snow till I go out there. Saw a bloke skinning up RG today. Stopped to have a chat but he wasn't interested chatting - man on a mission! Maybe I'll have a go skinning up Waterfall Express - just can't do kick turns on the jolly things if i get into a tight spot
