haha gold. we saw TC as busy as it gets IE: 5min liftlines for saddle. they couldnt fit another car up there. we got 2 fresh lines in saddle and freshies from summit amongst other things. anyone who complains about TC getting tracked and liftlines needs to spend some time at hutt. ive had bigger liftlines there midweek with no pow this year.
PS-impreza when saddles tracked mototapu calls

yeah looked great out there but it was closed Had 4 days of powder out of 6 possible and only only one really busy day and that was event day at cardies so not really surprising. Next year I'm gona check out canty properly.

Visited Roundhill for the first time ever yesterday. Headed straight for the rop tow. There was some windblown southwesterly storm snow above a breakable crust. The windblown powder was skiable all the way down by picking the right line and actually really good quality in the morning. Despite being a busy Saturday there was hardly anyone riding the tow and untracked lines were available all day. As the afternoon progressed, solar heating turned the storm snow into sticky dense crap and then it was time to move onto the old breakable crust which turned to perfect buttery corn snow in the spring sun. All in all a very pleasant experience. I'll be back for sure.

The new terrain isn't actually that steep, or particularly varied but just the sheer length of the run makes it something different worth visiting for.

truth be told after realsing the variability and amount of crud on offer i switched back to the gnu.
I rate TC so much im seriously tempted to buy a seasons pass and do every 2nd weekend. U can argue CV and temple have better terrain but both require far more effort and CV is far from uncrowded these days. with mototapu TC must be close to 700ha anyways and TC cat is a legend

Bro I would reserve judgement until you have been to Temple and CV.

TC is a great mountain but I'll take epic uncrowded terrain with a bit of hard work over chairlifts and crowds any day.

yeah tc is a great mountain but it is still a commercial field and fast chairs means freshies get tracked real fast and on a powder day it can get pretty busy. 30 mins for the saddle on a 50cm powder day last year, sure nothing compared to carides in the school holidays but it still can get a little busy.

I'm not sure I'd consider the hike up to temple or any amount of rope tow riding and/or hiking for lines in one day as being more effort than the 10 hour round trip in the car to go to treble cone.

Nice vid bro - that gully at 2:00 is wicked! Snow looks pretty sketch in places, even the sloughs were holding some slabby shapes.

80km/h NW winds are ideal for T3 operation, how slack of them to close it after lunch.

big chairs can take a lot more wind than ts. ie jumbo t shuts but highnoon keeps going at turoa.

The problem with ts is a rather small cross wind can blow people off the t line while 6 seater chairs can take nears gale force winds before they sway badly. by the time a 6 seater chair shuts you wont want to be there.

Did a mission to Temple and back today.
What a farking huge effort for a day mis, weather was craphouse, got soaked on the hike up, dried out for a couple of hours in the lodge and then got soaked as soon as I started riding again, then got even more soaked on the hike back out.
There is some freakin sweet terrain up there though, so many possibilites.
Snow on the temple tow was extremely sticky snot, round on the downhill tow the top 2/3rds was nice heavy pow but then bottom 1/3rd was again sticky snot.
Will have to try and do 3 days up there at least next time to make all the effort worth while, glad I finally got up there though, cool atmosphere

Hit up Porters for the slush today, lifty said snow pack was 3 degrees before anyone was on it so we didn't have to wait for anything to soften and you could go basically everywhere on the mountain, just had to watch out for the odd stone/rock poking through

Had another primo day at BR today
Think they had about 15cms since yday and the BR snow making was in full swing.
They have awesome cover up there.
Like sunday it was a bit windy on the ridgeline but you just didn't hang around long up there.
Allans Basin was awesome, got heaps of fresh lines out there as well as in the main bowl, and not many people to track it out.
Hopefully everything stays sweet up there until BWM's RiderX
