Skia ora %%First Name%%,

Long summer evenings, Bar-b's, beaches; Whether you're sipping wine on the deck of a ski club at Whakapapa, getting up to Mt Hutt for a spring fling or getting your last fix at Cardrona for the season, Snowco wishes you a fun-filled spring and summer for 2013/2014. That is unless you're lucky enough to be heading over to the white room in the Northern Hemisphere.

Yep this is our last weekly THASU for the season. We will be bringing you a season upate and roundup in a fortnight and then monethly over the summer. We will be keeping you updated this summer about the progress of our athletes competing at Sochi and on the Freeski World Tour.

Here's the latest: (Remember for weekend weather check out the bottom of this page)

Closing this weekend:
Temple Basin; Only Downhill tow operating which means you have to walk there.
Dobson; The piste is saturated but they have kept the best until last, with good top to bottom coverage..
Ohau; Spring conditions. Firm at first, creamy snow as the day warms. There is still good off-piste coverage in places. Main trails are groomed.
Cardrona; Valley View Lift is now closed for the season.. One of the best Spring snow cover in a decade and more snow expected Fri and Sat!.
The Remarkables: Spring like conditions. On trail has been groomed to perfection, off piste will be firm at first but will soften quickly as the morning progresses.

Closing 13th October - just one more week:
Mt Hutt: Overnight rain has created super soft conditions on the main trails with the more popular trails likely to chop-up quickly and become quite heavy and tiring. Oodles of good skiing and riding options expected off-trail and as the day warms up off-trail may well provide some of the best skiing and riding on the mountain.

Closing 28th October - Labour Weekend
Whakapapa & Turoa: There is no longer have any beginner facilities open at Whakapaa but still have great skiing & boarding conditions on the upper mountain!! Turoa has machine packed snow on trail and variable off trail, it is beginning to soften off trail but there are still some icy patches. It looks great up the High Noon Express but anything lower stick to the pistes. Turoa will be open until an unspecified date in Snovember but have not confirmed what that will be yet.

Broken River doesn't set a date, they stay open as long as there is snow. The access tow is rather lean with a large extent of tussock near the bottom making riding up a real adventure. If you prefer snow under your skis then a short walk up the access road will have you up at Palmer Lodge and in the snow in no time. Broken River Basin still looks sick but don't delay.
Manganui will open again if the get snow. Lower mtn closed for season, unless they get a huge dump. more snow required to operate the upper slopes. They're even optimistic in the Naki.

INTERNET POLL: Last week the Porters webcam went down, the Happy Valley webcam blurred, Turoa stating a 275cm snowbase and TC said 70cms at their base area; Do you believe the snow reports? 96% don't so far. VOTE HERE!

WEEKEND WEATHER

A very busy weather map won't come to much this weekend so don't take the snow icons below too seriously. Some possible showers in the north with a bit of cloud and light winds will mean that there will be generally good conditions at Ruapehu this weekend. Further south all of the warnings are for west of, or close to the divide so shouldn't affect areas in the east too much. Again expect cloud and light winds this weekend. Best day for riding in both islands is Sunday but don't write off Saturday either. Have a good one!!
