Freeride World Tour - Chamonix and Courmayeur
Well the two back to back Freeride World Tour competitions in Chamonix, France and Courmayeur, Italy didn't go very well for me. Still on the mend from a back injury that I picked up at the Fischer team shoot in Austria the week before I couldn't get my game together and came in 16th and 22nd (last) at the two comps. One positive that was that a photo of me was used as the first thing seen on the Freeride World Tour website for a solid week- check out the screenshot below:
This hardly made up for the crushing dissappointment of bad results in my first 3 Freeride World Tour competitions. I can't really describe the feeling, it's like getting invited to the best party you can imagine, getting a disfiguring injury just before it, going anyway but getting so drunk that you spew and pass out at the start of a party and need an ambulance. I didn't really like making the vid or writing this either, but at least it's motivation to crush it in the next two competitions in Norway and Austria, qualify for finals and next year on FWT and show everyone that I deserve to be on the tour. First stop- a rest in Sweden to rehab my back. On the other hand a big congratulations to Sam Smoothy and Janina Kuzma- taking 1st and 3rd respectively in Chamonix, Sam being the first kiwi to win a FWT stop and then going on to take 2nd in Courmayeur and now sitting first overall!
These two vids are a FWT made pre-comp vid and my helmet cam edit from my runs. Thanks to Fischer for my new Contour helmet camera because I lost my gopro helmet cam recently, when I crashed in Austria I compressed my spine, kneed myself in the face, almost broke my nose, got a wicked black eye and my helmet cam broke off my helmet and out of the case. A broken piece of the case is all I found. Check out this link for photos of the Fischer team week including my eye swollen over: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.253836158018160.56211.107365069331937&type=1
Anyway here are some vids to persue, and know that I will be back with better.
