Rebecca Sinclair through to Finals at World Snowboarding Championships

Posted on Thursday February 16th at 3:47 p.m.

Oslo, Norway (16 February 2012) - Rebecca Sinclair pushed things even harder in the semi-finals today at the World Championships of Snowboarding in Oslo Norway, landing another personal best run combination to go through to the finals in fifth position.

"All of the riders were stepping things up in the semi-finals," said NZ's Head Park and Pipe Coach, Tom Willmott. "The bar was raised and Bex picked up her game to match it. It was her third run that scored the highest - a 79.2 out of a possible 100, building on her form from qualifying and adding a frontside 900 last-hit: a manoeuvre that Sinclair has only landed once before in competition."

After guaranteeing a finals appearance in run two by securing a score good enough to put her in the top-10, Sinclair had nothing to lose and used the opportunity wisely placing third in her heat, behind Olympic Silver medallist Gretchen Bleiler (US), and Olympic gold medallist Kelly Clark (US). Queralt Castellet (SPA), and Cilka Sadar (SLO) took spots three and four, respectively with their performances in heat one.

Finals will feature another best of three run format and take place on Saturday between 3:45 and 5pm Central European Time.

On the Slopestyle course Shelly Gotlieb and Possum Torr had a good training session and are primed and ready for their semi-final round tomorrow.
