The team is conducting speed training at Mt Hutt as they prepare to join the World Cup circuit in the Northern Hemisphere later this year.

Head of Race Paul Marks said the US racers were among many international ski racing teams to return to Mt Hutt every year for the unique speed training on offer.

"Mt Hutt offers Australasia's only downhill training venue. It's really ramping up at the moment in the Red Bull International Race Training Arena - we're fully booked with teams from all around the world here for the race training season," he said.

"The Slovenian Men, Swedish Women, and Norwegian Women are already here and we're expecting the Canadian Women and Swiss Women to arrive this weekend."

Ski racers and more leisurely skiers at Mt Hutt are enjoying superb snow coverage this season. The ski area has an average two metres of snow across the ski area.

"We hit the magic 2 metres average snow coverage some time ago. Conditions are now fabulous and we're well set up for a season that will extend well into spring," said Mr Marks.
