Snow lovers can choose from a range of ski area passes for Mt Hutt, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables until the sale period closes at midnight on 17 March.

The process is as easy as jumping online to www.nzski.com where mypass details can be accessed from last year or new details uploaded for first timers.

For 2011 the Locals' Early Bird sale has been structured around the intention in which it was originally introduced - that is, to recognise the close association that locals have with ‘their' ski areas, according to NZSki Sales & Marketing Manager Craig Douglas.

"This year Mt Hutt early bird passes are only available to residents of Canterbury or those who held a season pass last year. All our guests are important and valued, however the locals' early bird sale is about benefiting locals and our most loyal mountain visitors," he said.

The Early Bird payment plan is available again for 2011, enabling local people to pay for their passes in three installments.

"This payment option is designed to help people with the initial outlay, specifically local families, many of whom buy multiple passes. You simply pay one third of the cost at sign up then the other two thirds over April and May.'

Mr Douglas said there had been minor price increases and that NZSki had worked to keep them to a minimum.

‘Providing and developing a world class ski facility doesn't come cheap and the reality is that we've had to make some changes to the pricing structure this year," he said.

‘Despite the slight increase in cost, passes remain exceptional value for money.'

Passes can be collected from the Snow Centre in Methven and Queenstown from 2 May where a proof of address or employment within the Canterbury district must be presented before the pass is issued. They can also be collected at Victoria Ski Sport, 130 Victoria Street, Christchurch between May 21 to 29. All pass holders, new and old, will need to pose for a new photo whether collecting a new pass or recharging an existing mypass.
