The Salomon Freeski Scholarship presented by New Zealand Skier will commence this winter with the search for young talent to complement the existing New Zealand team. Working with our stable of world-class athletes we hope to offer the talented young skier support, instruction and mentoring as well as hardware & outerwear from Salomon.

Hamish Acland from New Zealand Skier will be a lead mentor and the winner will also receive a season pass from Cardrona or Mt Ruapehu. These world class resorts are the perfect training grounds for young skiers.
Salomon sees this as an opportunity not only to scout for fresh talent but also to support young skiers in New Zealand. Internationally Salomon aims to support grass roots events and this is definitely in that vein. The final segment of judging will be a meet and greet with the team manager at the Junior Nationals. We hope that this will highlight the Junior Nationals and get even more young riders involved.
The format for the competition will be kept simple - entrants upload a video segment to the NZ Skier Face book page and finalists will be announced on 25th September 2011 and interviews will be held at the junior nationals with the winner announced online.
