The series concluded at Mt Hutt on September 9 following two Super G's, two Super Combined races and a slalom event. The scheduled giant slalom was cancelled due to the conditions.
In the second Super G Cafe turned in an outstanding 20-point result after finishing in 58.28 seconds just outside Oehagen's winning time of 58.24.
"It was awesome and by far my personal best result to date. It's a big step up for me and has given me a lot of confidence. My world ranking will definitely drop below 200 now," says Cafe.
Calle Lindh also of Sweden placed third in 58.34 and New Zealand's Ben Griffin (Ohakune) took out fifth in 58.42. Nineteen-year-old Willis Feasey (Twizel) put in a fast time of 58.98 to score a personal best and finish 12th overall in the 50-strong field.
The top three places in the first Super G were dominated by Swedish athletes with Daniel Ericsson leading the way in 55.00 ahead of Doglas Hedin 55.68 and Lindh 56.04. The first Kiwi was Nick Prebble (Christchurch) in sixth place in 56.43 and Griffin finished eighth in 56.52. Feasey again lowered his world ranking sharing 10th place in 56.88 with Norway's Joergen Brath. Andrew Wylie (Queenstown) skied below his points to finish in 17th place in 57.57.
Ericsson, Lindh and Hedin were first, second and third in the first Super Combined event in combined times of 1.27.81, 1.28.47 and 1.29.42 respectively. Cafe finished 10th as first New Zealander in 1.30.71. Wylie placed 14th in 1.31.03, Nick Prebble 15th in 1.31.23 and Griffin 16th in 1.31.29.
The second Super Combined was won by USA's Grant Jampolsky in 1.33.03, Lind placed second in 1.33.09 and Hedin finished third in 1.33.43. Griffin was first Kiwi in 10th place in 1.34.81 with Feasey in 12th in 1.35.73.
Sweden took the top three placings in the slalom with Lindh winning gold in 1.11.06 ahead of team mates Oscar Andersson in 1.11.21 and Johan Pietilae Holmner 1.11.34. Patrick Biggs (Canada) was just pipped to finish fourth in 1.11.35.
Wylie flew the flag again for New Zealand in 14th place in 1.14.06 improving his slalom world ranking. Cafe followed in 15th in 1.14.30, Adam Barwood (Queenstown) 16th in 1.14.86 and Feasey 17th in 1.14.97.
The women's Super G's were dominated by Russians with Lucie Tait-Jamieson (Auckland) first New Zealander in both.
The first was won by Elena Yakovishina in 57.96 ahead of team mates Anna Sorokina in 58.13 and Anastasia Kedrina third in 58.61. Tait-Jamieson clocked 58.92 to finish fifth ahead of 16-year-old Australian talent Greta Small in 59.57. Fifteen-year-old Piera Hudson (Hawkes Bay)topped an outstanding debut season in FIS racing to finish eighth in the international field of 25 athletes. She recorded 1.00.05 to significantly reduce her world Super G ranking.
The second Super G was again an all Russian affair on the podium with Sorokina taking the honours in 1.00.62 ahead of Kedrina in 1.00.84 and Yakovishina 1.00.97. Tait-Jamieson finished a creditable fourth in 1.01.23 again lowering her ranking.
Small placed fifth equal with Russia's Vladislava Bureeva in 1.01.68 and Hudson was again in strong form to take seventh place in 1.02.00 and score a 58 point result.
The Super Combineds were again a tussle amongst the Russians , the first taken out by Yakovishina in 1.32.08, Sorokina 1.32.47 and Kedrina in 1.33.44. Small was sixth in 1.35.40 and Harriet Miller-Brown (Queenstown) claimed eighth spot in 1.36.37 as first New Zealander.
The second Super Combined had Sorokina in front in 1.33.52, Yakovishina 1.34.00 and Kedrina 1.34.28. Small moved up the ranks to fourth place in 1.35.67 and Miller-Brown was again first Kiwi finishing in 1.37.89 in sixth position ahead of seventh placed Hudson in 1.38.76.
Internationals won the first three placings in the slalom with Sorokina stamping her name on the title in 1.10.04 followed by Norway's Rikke Gasmann-Brott in 1.11.25 and Alexandra Tilley of Great Britain third in 1.12.16.
Small was first Australasian in 1.14.27 in fourth place ahead of team mate Emily Bamford who was fifth in 1.14.99. New Zealand's Emily Wright (Mt Hutt) was first home in sixth place in 1.17.21.
Golden bibs for the overall winners of the ANC series were won by Australians Mike Rishworth and Greta Small giving both skiers a 31 start position in any discipline at Northern Hemisphere Nor-Ams and Europa Cup events during the 2011-2012 season.
