Over the last week a series of cold south-westerly fronts has laid down about 45cm of fresh cold powder over our already substantial base. Lucky customers who made it up on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week were treated to untracked powder off-piste, and beautifully groomed runs on the main trails.
Some of the comments from the lucky ones on Wednesday -
"Hey thanks Rainbow and Mother Nature for a great powder day on Wednesday. Amazing time, lots of smiles and happy people" - Bridget
"I had probably the best day I have ever had up at Rainbow yesterday" - Hamish
"Awesome day on Wednesday. Perfect, evenly laid dry powder - best for three years!" - Ray
This weekend is shaping up to be even better, with a few cm of fresh snow forecast for both Friday and Saturday nights, and fine days on both Saturday and Sunday. You can check out the forecasts at snow.co.nz and the snow report & webcams each morning on our snow report page (or call the Rainbow Snow Phone on 0832 22605.
For the brave out there the annual Rainbow Slush Cup is scheduled for this Saturday, (though to be honest we don't have any slush at the moment) - if you think you can skim your way across a pool of frigid icy water then come an show us how its done. If you can't then come and watch how the experts do it. This event is nearly always won by Rainbow staff so lets see someone knock them off their perch this year!
If you're heading up this weekend all of our facilities are operating: Snow School, Rentals, Shuttles, Cafe, and all Lifts - and the whole mountain is ridable from top to bottom. Rainbow is also still open every day of the week (weather permitting) with all facilities.
