The series has run over the past two months and seen hundreds of budding young ski racers competing for fantastic prizes, medals, scholarships and trophies. The overall winners for the Series were decided over two days of tense and exciting races on what was a fast and, at times, challenging course at Roundhill.
The Snowvision Foundation CEO, Fiona Stevens, awarded Snowvision McKenzie scholarships to three athletes to support and encourage their on-going Alpine training.
The scholarship recipients were:
1. Alex Hull, Queenstown Alpine Ski Team
2. Toby Eady, Cardrona High Performance Centre
3. Mackenzie Frost, Ohau Ski Club
The Overall winners were decided from the three best performances of the series. The Dynastar/Lange Junior Interfield Ski Race Series overall winners for 2011 are:
E1 Girl Louisa Ellis
E1 Boy Sam Hadley
E2 Girl Alice Robinson
E2 Boy Julius Staufenberg
K1 Girl Teagan Brown
K1 Boy Ben Richards
K2 Girl Rebecca Brown
K2 Boy Toby Eady
Notable achievements during the series were that both Rebecca Brown of Ohau Ski Club and Sam Hadley of QAST were unbeaten in the series winning all five races in a row. In contrast, the K1 titles were determined by the outcomes of the weekend's races with the margins being only 0.47 seconds for the boys and 0.15 seconds for the girls.
This series had huge support from Dynastar/Lange and a number of other major sponsors including; Night ‘n Day Stores, Skyline Queenstown, Outside Sports, Impact Print Queenstown, Mountain Scene Newspaper and GoPro Cameras.
