The K2 schoolsnowboard comp is postponed for today. Fresh snow has filled the Boardercross and Slope Style courses and both will need to be rebuilt today.

Wednesday weather is looking good so hopefully we will complete all three events.

There are just under three hundred athletes from throughout the North Island, representing fifty eight Secondary Schools, making the K2 schoolsnowboard comp the largest snowboard event in the country. It is early days, but from yesterdays Giant Slalom results, there is a bit of a Waikato derby going on in the Girls competition, with Waikato Dio, St Peters Cambridge and Hamilton Girls all in
the top six along with Spotswood, Westlake and local team, Ruapehu. New team, Wairarapa are featuring in the Boys competition, with Kristen, Westlake, Wellington High and Cambridge.

The Slope Style had to be postponed because of the wind affecting athletes on the jumps. but the Giant Slalom continued. After the lifts closed, also due to the wind, many of the boys walked back to the top of the Giant Slalom course to compete their second run. Trying to keep warm and sheltered from the wind was a challenge for the officials and athletes. There were some creative snow  barriers developed by the Course Assistants along the course.

Giant Slalom Results

Girls: First - Dakota Craig (Waikato Dio), Second - Sarah Wilson (St Peters Cambridge), Third - Tyler Willetts (Spotswood).

Boys: First - Seb Judge (Kristin), Second - Joseph Jury (Wairarapa) , Third - James Rohloff (Westlake Boys).
